I know the frustration of painting a dud. I have plenty of failed paintings sitting in a stack in my studio. But, early on I decided that the only way to improve was to practice, practice, practice. And that meant that I might have some failures. And that was ok.
So know I look at my stack of duds and realize that I can try and go back and rescue them or gesso over them for a new painting surface or use them for the base of a collage or tear them up for collage elements on a bigger piece. Which just adds to the creative fun!
