MILL HOUSE
Watercolor & Ink - 11x14
When I was studying for my Architecture degree in college we had to take four semester of art and drawing classes and one whole semester was focused on pen and ink. We learned to draw very detailed buildings and use the ink to build up our light and dark values by spacing the lines and using cross hatching.
Very time consuming but fun. Today, I don't really have the patience for that much detail but occasionally I like to combine some ink work with my watercolor. It is a great way to take advantage of the ink drawing for small details and use the paint for larger areas of color as I did in Mill House.
