Watercolor & Tissue Paper

WHISPER OF PINK
Watercolor - 11x15

I began Whispers of Pink by wetting 140 lb watercolor paper and then placing crumpled tissue paper on top. I sprayed the tissue with more water, patted it flat and then started painting in big, loose shapes of color for the flowers and leaves. I left it to dry and then removed the tissue where most of the paint had shaped through to the watercolor paper, leaving areas of color like a mosaic. I used some negative painting to define the petals and add a pattern of darks in the back ground. This is a fun way to loosen yourself up with watercolor!
