I am sure that at one time or another you have heard that you should paint what you love! But, why?
Painting a subject that is close to your heart allows you to create in a more meaningful and special way. It is easier to paint something you love with emotion rather than just copying from a photo in an impersonal way.
Painting what you love allows you to more easily enter the 'creative zone' because you are more familiar with the subject. You can relax and paint more intuitively instead of getting stressed out over unnecessary detail and realism.
It is important to occasionally go outside of your artistic comfort zone and paint things that are less familiar but painting what you love usually leads to more successful pieces. Enjoy the relaxed feeling you get from a favorite subject or technique.
