RAINBOW FISH
Watercolor - 14x19 in
I began this painting in a very experimental way, using a slick type of paper instead of regular cotton watercolor paper. The slick surface allowed me to play with bright, bold colors applied in a random fashion.
When everything was dry, I began to 'carve' out the shapes of different fish using negative painting and was able to lift paint off for lighter areas. I used several different stamps to add some design to the background and white gesso for the bubbles.
When I give myself over to the creative process and let the magic happen, the end result is always a delightful surprise!
