After living in Colorado for over 25 years I have to say that I LOVE painting aspen trees! The tall slender shape of the trunks, the delicate branches and of course the wonderful texture of the bark make them fun to paint in watercolor. I usually wet the tree trunks first so that I get soft shapes of dark spots and then use some dry brush to suggest roughness for the bark
