IRIS IN PINK
Watercolor - 8x10
We all want to be the best artists possible and as we get better and better we would like to move beyond technical proficiency and create art that is uniquely our own. To do that we sometimes need to give ourselves Permission To Play!
Try new things, experiment with new materials, loosen up our brush strokes. Move away from the reference photo and let the painting lead us in a different direction. I painted the iris above on gesso coated watercolor paper to keep the painting loose and the color bright and scratched in random strokes when the paint was wet. I tried to paint from memory and just have fun!
