My objective while painting Lakeside was to keep things loose and free while still defining the basic shapes of the trees, water and grasses. The focus is on the two tree trunks in the foreground so I used more variety in the colors, a variety of detail shapes for texture and kept the trunks light against the dark evergreens for high contrast.
