ON THE WATCH & White Vignettes

ON THE WATCH
Watercolor - 15x22

It can be a big no-no to use white watercolor paint because by nature it is chalky and will muddy up your beautiful, transparent colors. It is much better to use the white of the paper for a bright, clean look. I love to take advantage of big open spaces of white in my composition by using a vignette. This is where I let the subject matter fade into the white background space at the bottom of the painting to provide light and drama for the viewer.
