It is important to continually asses your art work along the way. Ask yourself questions. What do you like? Not Like? And the, even more importantly, why?
As you begin to see what is working and not working in your painting you know you are growing as an artist. Step back, look at the overall composition, colors, shapes and values. Do you have enough contrast? Is your center of interest defined? Should you add more darks? Bring out the lights? Refine a shape?
The more experience you have as an artists the easier it is to assess your own work. Some paintings will give you more trouble than others and some will almost paint themselves. Hang in there. The creative journey is worth it
