Painting every detail is fairly easy and doesn't take a whole lot of thought. Simplification is much more difficult. As the artist, you must decide what are the more important aspects of the image that will still communicate your message to the viewer. What details do you include and emphasize and which ones do you leave soft and ambiguous. Not always an easy task, but in the end you will have a much more interesting piece of art.
