COUNTRY BARN
Watercolor - 8x10
I absolute LOVE using a vignette as a compositional design in my watercolors. It allows me to paint the foreground in a free and loose manner, leaving some of the sparkling white paper to shine through. When I am painting the foreground I wet the paper first, leaving some ares of the paper dry. This allows me to create soft and hard edges when the paint touches the paper.
It still makes me laugh when I think of all the years I would makes notes to myself and spell vignette without the 'g' - it wasn't until I was blogging about it and it was auto corrected that I realized I needed that silent letter:)
