SOUTHWEST POTS IN SAND

For some reason this is one of my favorite paintings - sometimes everything will fall in to place as you are painting and the colors, texture and values just all seem to work out. I used plastic wrap to create rough texture in the background, negative painting to create the shape of the pots and kept the color palette simple using earth colors with purple and turquoise as accents. As artists we are always the first to point out what is wrong with our work so it is an unexpected and happy feeling when it all works out!
