SAILBOAT FANCY
Watercolor on gesso - 14x18
I painted this on paper coated with white gesso - this provides a slick surface for the watercolor to slip and slide around on, creating interesting texture and bright colors. The really nice thing about this process is that I could lift out the white shapes of the sail boats.
