I painted Trees of Many Colors on 140 lb watercolor paper that had been coated with white acrylic gesso. This provides a slick surface for the watercolor to sit on, creating fun blossoms, runs and texture in the painting. You can also lift the paint off and get back to your white paper at any time - a good and bad thing!
