SOUTHWEST POTS IN THE SAND

I love to paint old southwestern pottery and incorporate texture into the composition. I first wet the paper and applied background colors of yellow ochre, burnt sienna and some purple and then placed plastic wrap on the paper to create interesting texture. When everything was dry I negative painted around the pots and added the designs and shadows. I especially enjoyed painting the turquoise beads and the leather strips.
