This painting began as a demo for one of my workshops where we were exploring adding other media to our watercolor paintings. I first used several colors - white, pink, yellow - of oil pastel to draw in the flowers in the foreground. The pastel acts as a resist when you begin laying in the watercolors so that you can paint dark greens in the field and not lose the flowers.
