Fun Friday and A Day At Dollywood in the Beautiful Smoky Mountains

When we lived in South Carolina and the kids were younger we visited Dollywood which is located in east Tennessee in the beautiful Smoky Mountains.

Now that we actually live less than two hours away I decided it was time to shake things up and revisit the amusement park. Todd thought I was crazy but he was nice enough to indulge me and come along. We lucked out with a gorgeous fall day, mild temperatures and relatively small crowds.

I am not a huge roller coaster fan so we rode the ferris wheel which gave us a great view of the beautiful fall trees.

We got to ride the log ride twice since there was no line. I guess nobody else was crazy enough to get wet on a cool fall day.

Of course we had to ride the old steam engine train that wound through the beautiful Smoky Mountains.

The park is filled with local craftsmen who display their beautiful handmade wares.

We saw a great musical show that was all about Dolly Parton's life and was performed by members of her family.

To top it all off we ended the day with a delicious southern dinner and the lighted pumpkins that were displayed throughout the park. I am not usually an amusement park person but Dollywood is located in a beautiful setting, everyone is friendly and they have designed it to feel like you are in a homey, small town. We had a  wonderful day and it was great fun to be a kid again!
