I have to admit that I am not the best about going to art museums but whenever I visit my Mom in Texas she is great about taking me to one so that I can get a little culture. This time, it was an exhibit of paintings by the three Le Nain brothers from seventeenth century France. They all signed their paintings with only their last name so there is much speculation about which brother painted which piece of art and how much they might have collaborated. They painted very large oils of people in religious settings and the amount of detail was amazing - faces, clothes, lace, wood, stonework - very inspiring!
I am by no means an expert in historic art but it was nice to see something in person that you wouldn't find on Pinterest and to expand my creative horizons a little bit. So, I thought it would be a good idea for this week's Creative Monday Challenge to be an Art Date with yourself. Go to a museum, an artist opening, a local art gallery, an art fair or an art demo - something that gets you out of the studio and off the internet where you can see art in person and up close. And then please share it with us all!
