PASSION ROSES
Watercolor on Gesso 8x10
Passion Roses is painted on 140 lb watercolor paper that has been coated with white gesso to create a slick surface for the watercolor paint. I love painting this way occasionally because it forces you to apply the colors quickly and loosely in a painterly fashion - not your typical watercolor approach. If you try and layer too much it will just lift the first layer of paint off leaving the original white paper -which can be a good thing or not what you wanted at all - part of the challenge!
