Spring is here in Colorado and it is finally time to plant flowers. As a Texas girl I was surprised to learn when I moved here that you should not plant flowers until Mother's Day - snow in May?

Full of Spring was painted on dry paper - I know, not my usual style - in a very loose fashion. While the paint was still wet I took watercolor pencils and scraped them on sandpaper to create the fine dots of texture shown below.

As the waterclor pencil shavings hit the wet paint they dissove slightly and add a fun element to the overall composition. I also spattered some paint and threw a little bit of salt on because as one of my students says 'you can never have too much salt!'
