IMPRESSIONISTIC DAISIES - Watercolor

This painting is a great example of using negative painting for the majority of your subject. I first wet the paper and applied the three primaries - a yellow, rose madder and cobalt blue - all over the paper and placed plastic wrap on top. After it dried I removed the plastic, which left beautiful texture and lines, and  sketched in the vase and flowers. Then, the fun begins with using the colors already in the background to negative paint the flower shapes, stems, leaves and vase. Some positive painting on the flower centers and a little shading at the bottom of the vase.
