DAFFODIL SPRING
Watercolor - 11x14
I have learned through the years that I don't need to copy every part of a reference photo when I paint. It has become more important to make the painting work - good shapes, color, value and design - rather than make an exact replica of the photo.
It is too easy to get caught up in copying every detail instead of seeing that you may have better design choices. Use the photo as inspiration and then change the colors, move a few objects around, omit details and create a work of art that is a reflection of who you are and your own creative talent.
