I read somewhere that when need to fix a problem in your painting or are getting near completion only allow your self to make Three Marks! That way you won't get too fussy and ruin the freshness of the rest of the painting. By limiting yourself to three marks you can stay in control and take time to step back to look at the painting, before you add three more strokes.
