Creating art is two fold. First, we need to learn, practice and master the technical side of painting and second, we need to understand how to tap into the deeper parts of ourselves and express that in our work.
I think it is easy to keep taking classes that focus purely on the technical side of creating which continues to strengthen the need to produce results. We need to give ourselves time and space to play, experiment and fail and not always rush for results.
Notice what you love and what you don't. Learn what colors, marks, shapes, brushes and substrates that you prefer. What rules you should follow and which ones you can break. Find your voice, paint what you enjoy and learn who you are as an artist.
