SUNFLOWER WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP - Historic Rugby, TN

Historic Rugby, TN is a Victorian village located near Knoxville that was founded in 1880
by English author Thomas Hughes as an experimental utopian colony. While the experiment largely failed, a small community lingered throughout the 20th century. Some of the original Rugby structures are still standing today and have been restored while others were reconstructed to preserve the original design and layout of the community. Rugby's Victorian architecture and picturesque setting have made it a popular tourist attraction.

In 2017 an art gallery was opened in the historic Board of Aid to Land Ownership building in the historic village of Ruby. The gallery is a venture by local artist Freeman Davenport and features works from area artists. Freeman maintains her studio in the gallery and art instruction is offered through workshops and plein air events in Rugby.

I am excited that some of my original watercolor paintings have been selected to be a part of the Gallery at Rugby this year and I will also be teaching a watercolor workshop at the end of June focusing on painting sunflowers.

Watercolor Painting Workshop - Sunflowers - June 26, 2021- 1:00 to 4:00pm

Discover the beauty of painting sunflowers in watercolor. With their wonderful shape, abundance of petals and big centers they provide an ideal painting subject. Along with painting wet on wet we will explore some fun texture techniques and creative compositions. Demos along with individual help will encourage everyone in their own artistic expression.
