SUNFLOWER BARN
Watercolor Collage - 15x22
I love to combine watercolor with collage. You can use any kind of decorative paper - printed tissue, book pages, scrapbook paper, etc - or you can paint your own using plain old white tissue paper. For Sunflower Barn I used a combination of both. The centers of the sunflowers are a leopard printed tissue, the leaves are a green tissue paper with holly on them and some of the sunflower petals are standard orange tissue paper.
I also hand painted tissue paper in various colors to have on hand as I collaged. Place your white tissue on a plastic surface - trash bags work well - and then quickly apply heavy layers of watercolor paint to create a variety of colors. Once they are dry you can peel them off of the plastic and you are already to collage.
