It is easy to get in a creative slump and start feeling a little bored with your painting routine so maybe it is time to shake things up a bit. Try some variations in your creative approach. Add a new technique or use a different painting product. Reverse the steps in your artistic process and break away from the norm. Be bold with color, daring with your composition and unconventional with your supplies.
When I painted Wild Iris I first used gesso to stamp different fun shapes across the watercolor paper so that as I started applying paint they would peek in and out of the composition and add an element of surprise and mystery.
