IRIS DANCE
Watercolor - 11x15
I painted IRIS DANCE using a technique where I wet both sides of the paper, apply shades of blues and mauve in a loose manner over the entire space and then begin lifting out color with a dry brush to start creating the shape of the iris. As the paper begins to dry on the surface you can still maintain soft edges because of the wetness underneath. When everything was totally dry I came back in to create hard edges where needed around the ruffled petals and added darks to tie the composition together.
