There is something very peaceful about watching koi swimming around a pond. When the kids were small we used to go to the botanical gardens where they had several koi ponds among all of their beautiful flowers.

The bright, pretty colors of the fish make them fun to paint. Orange, gold and even blue. As the artist you can go for realism or shake things up a bit and use more pastel colors.

For this painting I decided to add some bamboo and then collaged on different hand painted rice papers to add more texture to the piece. Three paintings of koi using three different creative approaches.
