Fun Friday - The Music of Tulips

MUSIC OF TULIPS
Watercolor & Collage - 15X20

I always love stretching the boundaries of traditional watercolor and combing it with collage is a great way to do that. I began by painting in the background, tulips and leaves with loose watercolor washes. I then collected all of the decorative rice papers that I have in my collage stash and painted them the same colors.
Matte medium glued the papers in areas where I wanted more texture and design interest. I used a musical stamp on very thin rice paper and collaged those pieces in and around the tulips. A few final shapes of white rice paper for highlights and a stamped dragonfly to finish it off!
