Welcome to week 3 of the Art With Heart Creative Monday Challenge. The Creative Challenge this week is to use a limited palette of two or three colors to paint any subject you want. Limiting the colors makes us focus more on the values - lights and darks - that we are using in the composition.
A favorite limited palette of mine is to use blues and browns - basically complementary colors - and so many options as you can in the examples below. While painting Blue Reflections I limited my colors to ultramarine blue, phthlao blue and burnt sienna.
For Country Barn I focused more on the different shades of the browns with a little orange mixed in and limited the blue to ultramarine.
Lighthouse View is a good example of the many gray colors you can get by mixing ultramarine blue and burnt sienna.
I used cool shades of blue with a hint of purple in Seagull Dance and let the browns provide the warmth.

Happy Painting!
