Ink Blobs and Watercolor

Watercolor & Ink

I love to combine watercolor with other mediums and ink is a wonderful addition. The strong black provides a perfect contrast to the softness of watercolor. I usually use ink in a very precise way, adding thin lines of detail and shading, but in class last week I decided to change things up a bit and apply the ink with a dropper. It is hard to totally control the ink application so it results in a variety of line thickness with the occasional ink blob. This is great way to play and experiment on some of those unfinished watercolor paintings that we all have sitting around!
