How to Paint a Flat Wash and CACTUS BEAUTIES

There are several ways to apply paint to paper when using watercolor on wet or dry paper. A flat wash is when you apply a very smooth, even coat of paint on dry paper without leaving any drips, dribbles or lines. When I first learned to use watercolor we had to practice a flat wash until we got it right - well worth the effort.
For Cactus Beauties I started by painting wet on wet but when everything was dry I used flat washes in several areas on the cactus. You can see more info on Flat Washes at the Empty Easel here
