PINK DELIGHT and Watercolor on Gesso

Watercolor on gessoed paper - 8x10
As most of you know I love to occasionally switch things up with my watercolor paintings - different painting surfaces, new techniques, add some mixed media - whatever interests me that day. For Pink Delight I painted on 140 lb watercolor paper that had been coated with white gesso ( a great way to redo those paintings that you don't like) which creates a slick surface for the watercolor to sit on. Because you can't really blend the paint, it encourages you to use a more direct, painterly style and creates fun runs, drips and blossoms.

  1. Nice work.
Thank you for the reminder. I haven't painted watercolors on gesso for a while. I love the way the surface carries the color.
