COASTAL LIGHTHOUSE
Watercolor & Ink - 11x15
In my last workshop we combined watercolor with several other media, ink being one of them. Coastal Lighthouse was my demo piece and I began by sketching in the basic shape of the lighthouse and building with waterproof black ink. I also drew in the basic shape of the cliff and some rocks and then began painting the sky using a wet on wet technique. After painting the trees, rocks, water and sand I came back in and added more details with the ink. Watercolor and ink is a great combination - the paint gives color and form to the major elements and the pen supplies the needed detail for the focal areas.
