Breckenridge Batik - WINDOW TO THE WORLD

WINDOW TO THE WORLD
Original Watercolor Batik - 12x19

Watercolor Batik gives you the opportunity to experiment with all kinds of subjects. The process is similar to fabric batik where melted was is used as a resist but but watercolor is painted on fibrous rice paper instead of cloth. In Window to the World I had fun using the texture of the rice paper and the unpredictability of the paint and wax to suggest textures in the greenery, the stone wall, the lace curtains and the old wooden shutters.

I will be spending time in Breckenridge, CO during my Artist in Residence program in November creating more watercolor batiks and offering workshops to the public.
