Five Ways to Shake up Your Watercolors - #1 Bold Color

SUMMER PARTY
Watercolor 11x15

It is easy to get in a rut with life and painting so sometimes it is a good idea to shake things up a little bit. One way to do that is to use bright, bold colors like I have used in this painting of summer flowers. I tend to use pure, undiluted paint from my palette and let the mixing happen on the wet paper so that the colors stay strong and true. I love using all colors from cool blues and greens to warm yellows and pinks - what are your favorite colors to paint with? To decorate with? To dress with?
