White Flowers and Summer Delight

SUMMER DELIGHT
Watercolor 11x15

I love to paint white flowers in watercolor because I get to use my favorite technique, negative painting. I began by wetting the paper and laying in washes of peach and blue, careful to avoid the general area of my main flowers. I used more concentrated paint to put in the grasses and some buds and then when all was dry, I began defining the petals of the white flowers by painting darks around them. A fresh, summer painting!
