Leaves, Summer and an Art Show

PASTEL LEAVES
Original Watercolor - 11x15
$45 - Buy Here

I began painting Pastel Leaves by applying paint to the backs of some real leaves and using them as stamps on the watercolor paper. When everything was dry I started painting around the leaf shapes to create more definition and rhythm in the painting and added more detail where needed. I used vibrant colors of mauve, green, yellow ochre and burnt sienna to create a fun and colorful painting!
Last weekend I drove up to Denver to attend their Art Students League Annual Art Show. This is a large  organization of artists, students and teachers that is based in Denver, offering classes and different art shows during the year.
It was a beautiful summer day in Colorado - not too hot, a slight breeze and not a cloud in the sky.
I saw wonderful art in every booth. This is one of the few shows where they only allow two dimensional art to be sold. I love seeing jewelry, photography, pottery and sculpture but it was also nice to see such a fantastic collection of paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor.
