The Creative Challenge this week was to paint on a different surface. I used 140 lb watercolor paper and coated it with gesso first - this creates a slick surface so that the watercolor paint will sit on the paper instead of soaking in. The colors will stay bright and you can lift back to white at anytime. It is also a challenge to layer the paint without disturbing the layers underneath.
We just got back from out oldest daughter's wedding in Charleston, SC so a painting of dogwoods seemed fitting. A beautiful part of the country, especially this time of year with all of the spring flowers blooming.
