BIRD on a FENCE - Watercolor Batik Painting

Yesterday I received an email from Sue who lives in Australia and has been following my art, especially the Watercolor Batik Paintings. She said she would love to attend one of my workshops but lived a little too far away - how fun to be able to interact with people all over the world!
The internet has really opened up the art world to everyone. It use to be that we were limited to the art that was shown in galleries, now thru websites, blogs and facebook we have unlimited access to thousands of artist's work and the ability to communicate with those artists - a wonderful advancement.

This painting is another one of my Watercolor Batiks. Melted wax is used as a resist, the paints are regular watercolors and the base is rice paper. When the wax is removed in the final step it is always a wonderful surprise to see the final results of this artistic process. Even in the workshops when we are all using a similar design everyone ends up with a wonderful, unique art piece!
